The Poor Dog Was Lost, Hungry, and Scared in the Market… But Every Time He Came Close, People Chased Him Away

In the middle of a noisy market, where people pushed past one another from early morning, a small dog walked quietly between rushing feet.

He did not know how long he had been lost.

All he knew was that when he woke up, nothing around him smelled familiar anymore. There was no scent of the home he once knew, no voice calling his name, no water bowl waiting in its usual corner. In front of him was only a strange world — crowded, chaotic, and filled with sounds that made him tremble.

He moved slowly through the market, his stomach painfully empty.

Food was everywhere.

The smell of meat.
The smell of fish.
The smell of warm rice.
The smell of scraps that had fallen to the ground.

To a hungry, lost dog, those smells must have felt like his last bit of hope.

He carefully approached one of the stalls.

But before he could lower his head to pick up a small piece of food from the ground, someone shouted and chased him away. The dog flinched, stepped back, and lowered his ears in confusion. He did not understand what he had done wrong.

He was only hungry.

He was only trying to survive.

But it happened again.

Everywhere he went, people drove him away.

Some waved their hands at him harshly.
Some chased him with a broom.
Some stomped their feet to scare him off.
Some looked at him as if he were nothing more than a dirty problem that needed to disappear.

In that crowded market, no one seemed to see him as a living being who needed help.

They only saw a stray dog.

A dirty dog.

A dog in the way.

He ran from one stall to another, growing more frightened each time. The shouting, the traffic nearby, the clatter of objects, the voices of sellers calling out — everything pressed in around him until all he wanted was a quiet corner to hide.

But there was nowhere to hide.

He had no home to return to.

No one was calling his name.

The saddest part was that even in a place full of people, he was completely alone.

Maybe he had once trusted humans. Maybe before this, whenever someone came near, he expected a gentle touch, a bit of food, or a familiar voice. But in that market, every time he came close to people, all he received was rejection.

Little by little, he stopped trying.

He stood near a small corner, watching scraps of food fall onto the dirty ground but too afraid to move toward them. Hunger twisted inside him, but fear was stronger. He had learned too quickly that getting close to humans could mean being chased, shouted at, or hurt.

At one point, he lifted his head and looked at the crowd passing by.

There was nothing aggressive in his eyes.

He was not asking for much.

It was only a tired, lost, fragile look — a small hope that among all those people, maybe one person would finally stop for him.

A lost dog in a market does not only need food.

He needs kindness.

He needs a hand that does not push him away.

He needs someone patient enough to bend down, place a little water in front of him, offer him a small bite to eat, or at least give him a safe corner to breathe.

His story is a painful reminder that sometimes, what hurts a lost animal most is not only hunger or exhaustion.

It is being rejected again and again in a place full of people, while no one truly sees the fear in his eyes.

A market can be crowded.

But for that little dog, it still felt cold and empty.

Because among all the noise, he needed only one gentle voice.

Among all the footsteps, he needed only one person to stop.

And after being chased away so many times, he needed only one human to make him feel that he was not a worthless little life in this world.
