When he was found, the little puppy no longer looked like the carefree baby he should have been.
His tiny body was curled up in pain. His jaw was dislocated. His face and eye had been badly injured. Several of his teeth were gone. The damage was so severe that it was heartbreaking to look at him.
Animal control officers gave him a name: Seven.
A simple name, but one now tied to a long journey of pain, surgery, and survival.
Seven has already endured two surgeries in order to stay alive. One of his eyes was so badly damaged that doctors had no choice but to remove it. For such a young puppy, that loss is more than physical — it is a painful reminder of how much suffering he has already been forced to endure.
What makes his story even more heartbreaking is that Seven is still just a puppy.
At his age, he should have been running, playing, and sleeping peacefully in a warm bed. Instead, he has had to learn how to endure pain, how to recover from surgery, and how to keep fighting with the little strength he has left.
Looking at Seven lying quietly on his blanket, wearing a cone and covered in bandages, people do not just see an injured dog.
They see a small life that has already been through far too much.
He cannot explain how badly he hurts.
He cannot tell anyone how exhausting each breath feels.
He cannot ask why this happened to him.
But even after everything, Seven has not given up.
He is still here.
Still healing.
Still fighting.
