During the record-breaking heatwave, when the streets below felt as if they were burning, people looked up at an apartment building and saw a small dog curled up on a 10th-floor balcony.
No shade.
No fan.
No water.
No cool corner to hide from the sun.
Only burning tiles, direct sunlight pouring down for hours, and one helpless life trapped in the suffocating heat.
At first, the dog kept walking back and forth.
He tried to change places again and again because the balcony floor was too hot. He pressed his body against the glass door, as if hoping someone inside would hear him, see him, or remember that a living soul was suffering outside.
But the door stayed closed.
The curtains stayed drawn.
And he remained trapped on that narrow balcony.

His body was burning hot.

His legs no longer had the strength to stand.
He was carried inside, given water, cooled down immediately, and rushed for emergency care. But the moment that broke everyone’s heart was that even in his weakness, he did not resist. He only rested his head against the hand that saved him, as if after so many hours of being burned by the sun, he finally understood he no longer had to suffer alone.
A dog cannot speak.

Cruelty does not always come from hitting or beating. Leaving an animal trapped on a high balcony during a record-breaking heatwave is already a kind of cruelty that cuts deeply.
This story is a painful reminder that pets are not objects we can leave wherever we want. They depend completely on humans to stay safe. One careless moment can turn a home into a place of suffering for the very life we once promised to protect.
