After the landslide, the entire hillside was covered with scattered soil and rocks.
Broken branches lay across the ground. Mud had slid down the slope, and large stones were scattered everywhere. In the middle of that chaotic scene, a mother dog was trapped beneath a heavy rock. Her body lay motionless, her weak eyes opening and closing as she struggled through the pain.
Beside her stood her tiny puppy.
The little one trembled among the rocks and dirt, confused and terrified, unable to understand why his mother could not get up. Even though the area was still dangerous and everything around him was frightening, the puppy refused to leave. He stayed close to his mother, as if stepping away for even a moment might mean losing her forever.
The puppy lowered his head and gently licked his mother’s face.
Then he looked up and cried out in despair.
His voice was small, but painfully heartbreaking. It was not only the cry of a scared puppy. It was also the final plea of a tiny soul trying to keep his mother alive.
The mother dog’s eyes were still open.
But she was too weak to move.
Perhaps the puppy did not understand what had happened. He did not know what a landslide was. He did not know how heavy the rock was. And he did not know how to save his mother. All he knew was that the one who had always protected him was now lying helpless beneath the rubble, and he was too small to pull her out.
But even though he could not save her with his own strength, the puppy still chose to stay.
He sat close beside his mother in the cold mud and stones. From time to time, he licked her face again, then turned toward the distance and barked again and again, as if hoping someone would hear him. Each bark echoing across the ruined hillside sounded like a desperate plea:
“Please, save my mother.”

The moment the puppy saw people approaching, he jumped up, barked continuously, and ran around the spot where his mother was trapped, as if trying to show them exactly where they needed to help.
No one hesitated any longer.
The rescuers carefully approached the rock and worked to lift it little by little so the mother dog would not be hurt even more. The puppy stood nearby, his eyes following every movement. He did not understand everything they were doing, but it seemed as if he could sense that hope had finally arrived.
After many efforts, the rock was finally lifted.
The mother dog was pulled free from the dirt and stones.
At that moment, the puppy immediately rushed to her. He pressed himself against her and licked her face over and over, as if trying to make sure she was still there. Though the mother dog was very weak, she still tried to open her eyes and look at her baby, while the puppy stayed pressed close to her, unwilling to move away.
In the middle of the devastation left by the landslide, that bond moved everyone who witnessed it.
A tiny puppy could not lift the rock by himself.
He could not pull his mother out with his little legs.
But he did the only thing he could do: he stayed, he cried for help, and he waited until someone came.
That persistence gave his mother a chance to be rescued in time.
Afterward, the mother dog was taken away for medical care and examination. The puppy stayed close beside her, his eyes never leaving her, as if afraid that if he looked away for even a second, she might disappear beneath the rocks again. From the moment danger happened until the moment his mother was finally rescued, he had never abandoned her, not even once.
The story left many people deeply emotional.
Because sometimes, love does not need to be shown through grand gestures. For that little puppy, love meant staying beside his mother in danger. It meant licking her face when she could not stand up. It meant barking until his voice grew tired, begging for help. It meant waiting in fear but still refusing to leave.
Among the cold stones and mud after the landslide, one tiny puppy proved that a mother-child bond does not exist only in humans.
