In a roadside garbage dump filled with a foul smell, a black trash bag lay among piles of scattered waste.
At first glance, it looked no different from any other bag of garbage left behind.

But if no one had stopped in time, their tiny cries might have disappeared forever beneath the piles of trash.
The passerby immediately pulled the puppies out.

When they finally breathed fresher air, their tiny bodies moved weakly, as if trying to hold on to the chance at life they had just been given back. The puppies were then wrapped in towels and kept close together for warmth. They were still weak, but they were finally far safer than they had been inside that black trash bag. In the arms of the rescuer, they no longer had to lie in darkness and fear. They had been seen. They had been touched gently. They had been saved.
This story angered many people, not only because of the cruelty of the person who abandoned them, but also because it reminds us that there are still too many fragile lives out there being treated like waste.
