Abandoned in the Bitter Cold
The freezing temperatures in Regina, Saskatchewan had already dropped to -11°C when someone made a cruel decision that could have ended 11 tiny lives forever.
Under the cover of darkness, a plastic storage tote was quietly left outside the doors of the Regina Humane Society.
Inside were 11 puppies no older than seven weeks old.
No blankets.
No food.
No mother beside them.
Only freezing air surrounding their tiny trembling bodies.

Huddling Together to Survive
The puppies had no way to escape the cold.
All they could do was press tightly against one another inside the plastic container, desperately trying to share body heat and stay alive through the freezing night.
Some puppies climbed on top of their siblings for warmth.
Others buried their tiny faces into the pile of shivering bodies beside them.
Rescuers later said the only reason the puppies likely survived was because there were so many of them together.
Had there only been one or two puppies abandoned there alone, they may not have made it through the night.
The Shelter Worker Who Heard Their Cries
Thankfully, a staff member arriving at the shelter discovered the heartbreaking scene before it was too late.
The moment they opened the tote, they found 11 frightened puppies curled tightly together, shaking violently from the cold.
Without hesitation, the staff member rushed the puppies inside where warmth, blankets, and emergency care were finally waiting for them.
For the first time since being abandoned, the tiny dogs were finally safe.

Tiny Bodies Fighting to Recover
Although the puppies survived the freezing temperatures, many still needed medical attention.
Some were being treated for worms while shelter staff carefully monitored all 11 puppies to ensure their fragile little bodies continued stabilizing after the cold exposure.
Despite their terrifying ordeal, rescuers say the puppies remain incredibly sweet and affectionate.
As warmth slowly returned to their bodies, the frightened little dogs began wagging their tails and cuddling into soft blankets instead of each other for survival.
Thrown Away Like They Meant Nothing
What breaks hearts most is knowing these puppies were abandoned directly outside a shelter where help could have been requested safely.
Instead, someone chose to leave them exposed to deadly winter temperatures with no guarantee they would survive until morning.
And yet somehow, the puppies never stopped fighting to stay alive beside one another.

Now Hoping for a Future Filled With Love
The shepherd-mix puppies are expected to grow into medium-sized dogs and will eventually begin searching for loving forever homes once they are fully healthy.
Homes where they will never again be left shivering in the cold wondering if anyone is coming back for them.
Because after surviving one freezing night abandoned together inside a plastic tote, these 11 tiny puppies deserve a future filled with warmth, safety, and love.
