Tank may be small, but his little adventure brought out a very big rescue team.
The Yorkshire terrier was playing hide-and-seek with his owners in Centennial, Colorado, when the game suddenly turned serious. Somehow, the tiny dog wiggled beneath the wooden boards of the porch and became trapped underneath.
For a little Yorkie, it was a frightening place to be.
Tank was not a large dog stuck in a wide space. He was a pint-sized pup squeezed into a tight, dark area where his owners could not safely reach him. What began as a playful moment quickly became a stressful emergency.
His worried family called for help.
Soon, South Metro Fire Rescue arrived with 18 rescuers, a full technical rescue team, and Arapahoe County Animal Control. It may have seemed like a huge response for such a tiny dog, but to Tank’s family, he was not small at all.
He was their little family member, scared and trapped under the porch.
Video from the scene showed firefighters carefully cutting through the floorboards and digging underneath, working step by step to reach him without hurting him. The rescue required patience, tools, and a lot of careful teamwork.
Finally, rescuers were able to reach into the space and pull Tank out safely.

The little Yorkie was back in his family’s arms, and the panic of the moment turned into relief.
It is still unclear who officially won the game of hide-and-seek.
But one thing is certain: Tank found the best hiding spot, and the firefighters won the rescue.
