He did not bite anyone.
He did not destroy anything.
He did not attack.
He did not do anything that deserved punishment.
He simply did not run over the moment his owner called.
Just because one call was not answered fast enough, the man became furious, as if the little dog had committed an unforgivable mistake. He stood in the middle of the yard and shouted the dog’s name in an angry voice. At that moment, the little dog was pressed against the corner of the wall, trembling as he looked toward his owner.
He heard him.
But he did not dare to run over right away.
Maybe he had already been scared for a long time. Maybe he had been shouted at and hit many times before, so even when he heard his name being called, he no longer knew whether it was a loving call or the warning sign of another burst of anger.
He only stood there, hesitating.
His tail tucked low.
His eyes wide with fear, watching the man as if trying to guess whether he should come closer… or stay away.
Those few seconds of hesitation were enough to make the man explode with rage.
He stormed toward the little dog and grabbed his small body roughly. The dog cried out in panic, his four legs kicking helplessly in the air. But before he could understand what was happening, the man threw him hard onto the solid ground.

A dull, painful thud echoed through the yard.
His tiny body hit the ground.
The dog lay motionless for a few seconds before curling up in pain. He tried to lift his head, but his legs were shaking so badly that he could not stand. His breathing was fast. His eyes were full of terror. He could not understand why, just because he had not come quickly enough, he had to suffer such a cruel punishment.
The most heartbreaking part was that he never fought back.
He did not bite.
He did not bark.
He did nothing wrong except be afraid.
Maybe he had become too used to watching a human’s expression just to survive. Too used to shrinking back whenever he heard shouting. Too used to staying silent so he would not be hurt again. But even that silence could not save him.
After being thrown hard to the ground, the little dog only lay there, his head pressed against the yard, his eyes sad and empty. He no longer tried to run. He no longer dared to come closer. There was only a small life curled up in pain and fear, as if he had finally understood that to the person standing before him, he had never been seen as a living being who could feel pain.

A dog who does not come when called is not always stubborn.
Sometimes, he is simply scared.
Scared of the hand that once hit him.
Scared of the angry voice that once made him tremble.
Scared that if he comes closer, he will only be hurt again.
And that is the most painful part of this story.
It was not only the throw.
It was the fact that this little dog had lived in fear for so long that even when his name was called, he no longer had enough courage to believe he would be treated gently.
May this little dog one day be taken away from that place.
May he feel hands that know how to love.
May his name be called with kindness instead of anger.
And may he live a life where he no longer has to flinch in fear just because a human calls his name.
