Nobody Wanted to Touch Him… The Sick Stray Dog Only Dreamed of Being Loved One Day

In a forgotten corner of the city lived a stray dog no one wanted near.

His fur, once beautiful, had turned patchy and dark greenish-black from severe skin disease, dirt, and infection. Large areas of his body were covered in wounds and scabs. His thin ribs showed clearly beneath his damaged skin, and a terrible smell followed him wherever he went.

People often chased him away.

Children were told not to get close.

Some covered their noses in disgust the moment they saw him.

Others threw rocks just to make him leave faster.

The poor dog never fought back.

He would only lower his head quietly and walk away.

As if he already understood that the world did not want him.

Every night, he slept alone beneath old market stalls after everyone had gone home. While other dogs were petted, fed, or sleeping safely beside their owners, he curled himself into a tiny ball against the cold ground, trying not to scratch his burning skin too much.

But what hurt him most was not the disease.

It was loneliness.

Sometimes, the dog would sit from a distance and watch people hugging their pets lovingly. His tired eyes would quietly stare at them for long moments, filled with something that looked almost human.

Hope.

A small, painful hope that maybe one day…

Someone would not hate him.

Someone would not be afraid of him.

Someone would look beyond his ugly appearance and see that he was still just a dog wanting love.

One rainy afternoon, the dog wandered near a bus stop searching for scraps of food. His body trembled from hunger and exhaustion. As people noticed him approaching, they immediately moved away in fear and disgust.

“Don’t let that dog come near!”

“It probably has disease!”

The dog stopped walking.

Slowly, he lowered his head and turned away again.

But then, a small voice called out softly behind him.

“Hey… wait.”

The dog froze.

A young girl, no older than ten, carefully walked toward him holding half of her sandwich. Her mother looked nervous, but the little girl knelt down anyway.

For the first time in a very long time, someone looked at him without fear.

The dog didn’t dare move closer.

He thought maybe she would also leave.

But the little girl smiled gently and placed the food near him.

“It’s okay,” she whispered. “You’re still a good boy.”

The stray dog stared at her with wide, trembling eyes.

And then something heartbreaking happened.

His tail wagged very slowly.

Not wildly.

Not excitedly.

Just carefully… like he had forgotten how happiness felt.

Tears filled the mother’s eyes as she watched the sick, unwanted dog eat while constantly looking up at the little girl, afraid the kindness might suddenly disappear.

That evening, for the very first time in years, the lonely stray dog did not sleep feeling invisible.

Because someone finally saw him.

Not as a disgusting animal.

But as a soul that deserved love too.
