A Puppy Who Looked Different From the Start
Some puppies are overlooked before anyone takes the time to know them.
They may be born with a condition, a disability, or a face that does not look the way people expect. Too often, those differences make them unwanted, even when their hearts are just as full of love as any other dog’s.
Chupey could have been one of those puppies.
Born with a unique appearance, the little Bullweiler mix looked unlike any dog rescuer Kaley Carlyle had ever seen. He had very little hair, tiny eyes, curled ears, big lips, and teeth that gave him what looked like a permanent smile.

Kaley Thought She Was Only Going to Help Him
Kaley first learned about Chupey while helping another dog.

Three years later, Chupey is still spreading happiness.
He brings comfort and laughter to Kaley’s family, especially her daughter Carson. He has also become a symbol for dogs who are born different, dogs who might be dismissed too quickly, and animals who need someone willing to look beyond appearance.
Chupey’s story reminds people that beauty is not always found in perfect features.
Sometimes it is found in a crooked smile.
In a strange little face.
In a dog who does not look like everyone else but loves with his whole heart.
The Puppy Who Was Always Worth Choosing
Chupey could have been rejected because of the way he looked.
Instead, he was chosen because of who he was.
Kaley saw past the hairless body, tiny eyes, curled ears, and unusual smile. She saw a puppy with warmth, spirit, and a heart ready to belong.
Now Chupey is not pitied for being different.
He is loved for it.
