The Dog Electrocuted by an Exposed Wire in the Rain

The rain lasted from afternoon until night.

Water flowed through the narrow alley, covering the ground with a cold, wet layer. People hurried home to escape the storm. Doors were shut. Dim lights glowed faintly behind the curtain of rain.

In that alley, a small brown stray dog was quietly searching for shelter.

His fur was soaked, clinging tightly to his thin body. Hunger made every step slower. He walked along the edge of the wall, hoping to find a small roof, a dry corner, or even a little warmth to survive the rainy night.

But beside the old wall, there was an exposed electrical wire.

It did not spark.

It did not explode.

There was no clear warning sign for anyone to notice the danger.

The wire lay silently in the rainwater, quietly turning the wet ground into a deadly trap.

The little dog stepped closer to the wall.

Then his body suddenly stopped.

There was no loud cry.

No violent struggle.

Only his legs trembling, his body stiffening for a few short seconds, before he collapsed onto the wet ground.

At first, the people inside the nearby houses did not know what had happened. The rain kept falling. The alley remained silent. The dog lay there, motionless beside the cold puddle, as if he was simply too tired after days of wandering.

It was not until a woman passed by and saw him lying near the wall that she stopped.

She called softly.

“Hey… little one…”

There was no response.

She took a few steps closer, then suddenly noticed the exposed wire nearby. Terrified, she stepped back immediately and called for others to shut off the power.

No one dared to touch him right away.

They could only stand at a distance, watching the tiny life lying still in the rain as each minute passed with unbearable heaviness.

When the power was finally cut off, they rushed to him.

The woman knelt beside the dog and gently covered his body with a dry towel. But he was no longer breathing.

No more trembling.

No more opening his eyes.

No more searching for shelter from the rain.

The little dog had passed away in silence, right in the alley he had entered only because he was trying to find a safe place.

The most heartbreaking part is that he never knew he was stepping into danger.

He was not playing.

He was not causing trouble.

He was not bothering anyone.

He was only hungry, cold, soaked by the rain, and trying to press himself against a wall to escape the storm. But one neglected exposed wire took his life without even a warning sound.

Not every death is loud.

Some tragedies happen in silence.

A stray dog falls beside a puddle.

The rain keeps falling.

And a tiny life leaves this world without even being held one last time.

No one knew how long he had been wandering.

No one knew if he had ever had a name.

And no one knew whether, in his final moment, he still believed he might find a place to hide from the rain.

All they knew was that he did not survive.

He left because of hunger, cold rain, and a silent danger he could never understand.

May this little dog rest in peace.

May he be somewhere he no longer has to wander through the rain, no longer has to press his body against cold walls, and no longer has to pay with his life just for trying to find shelter.
