Today is my birthday.
I have been sitting here on this couch for a while, quietly looking down at my little paws. I may not understand birthdays the way humans do, but I know they are supposed to feel special. I know they are supposed to come with love.
I thought maybe today someone would call my name a little softer.
Maybe there would be a hug.
A small cake.
A gentle hand on my head.
Or even just a simple, “Happy birthday, good boy.”
But the day has been so quiet.
No one came close.
No happy voices filled the room.
No one seemed to remember that today was supposed to be my special day.
I do not need a big present. I do not need a beautiful party. I only need to feel that I still matter, that someone still thinks of me, that I am more than just a dog sitting quietly in the corner.
Sometimes, even one kind birthday wish can make a lonely heart feel warm again.
So if you see me today, please send me a little birthday wish.
Just one sentence is enough.
So I can know that I was not forgotten on the day I hoped to be loved a little more.
Happy birthday to me.
I will sit here quietly, waiting for a little love from everyone.
